Canon 20D vs Canon G11

The Canon 20D has physical dimensions of 144mm x 106mm x 72mm (5.7" x 4.2" x 2.8") along with a weight of 770 grams (1.70 lbs) whilst the Canon G11 has dimensions of 112mm x 76mm x 48mm (4.4" x 3.0" x 1.9") with a weight of 375 grams (0.83 lbs).

Normally, it is tough to visualize the difference between sensor dimensions only by reading specs. The image underneath may give you a stronger sense of the sensor sizes in the 20D and G11.

All in all, both the cameras offer different resolutions and different sensor dimensions. The 20D having a bigger sensor is going to make shooting shallow DOF less difficult and the Canon G11 will offer you more detail having an extra 2MP. Higher resolution will also enable you to crop pictures a little more aggressively. The more aged 20D is going to be disadvantaged with regard to sensor tech.
