S

Samsung is introducing new models of its EVO series, offering improved speeds and additional storage for file transfers and storage. The updated microSD cards, including the EVO Select and EVO Plus, come with faster speeds as a significant enhancement. The company assures a 23% increase in transfer speeds compared to the previous versions, with speeds of up to 160 MB/s for both cards.

These new microSD cards come with Grade 3 (U3) Speed Grade that enables compatibility with high-resolution devices and those recording 4K videos. They also support a video speed class rating of V30, allowing cameras to write videos to the cards at a minimum speed of 30 MB/s. The cards with over 128GB capacity support application performance class A2, enabling the installation and usage of applications on both card and mobile devices. They are compatible with various devices, including Android smartphones, tablets, laptops, and portable gaming consoles.

José Hernandez, Samsung’s Senior Director of Memory Product Marketing, highlights the aim of enhancing data transfer speed on mobile and handheld gaming devices with the improved EVO Select and EVO Plus lines. These microSD cards not only focus on performance but also on durability, being resistant to water, extreme temperatures, x-rays, wear-out, drops, and magnetic impact. Additionally, they come with a 10-year limited warranty, ensuring the safety and security of user data.

In addition to faster speeds, Samsung reveals its plan to introduce memory cards with 1TB capacities in the EVO Select microSD and PRO Plus microSD lines in the future. While the availability of the 1TB versions is scheduled for later this year, Samsung has not disclosed further details on the release.

The quicker microSD cards are currently open for pre-order. The EVO Select microSD is offered in capacities of 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB at prices of $14.99, $18.99, $29.99, and $55.99 respectively. Similarly, the EVO Plus cards are available in the same storage capacities, priced at $15.99 for 64GB, $20.99 for 128GB, $31.99 for 256GB, and $60.99 for 512GB.
