Panasonic FH6 vs Pentax K-50

Here, we will be looking at the Panasonic FH6 and Pentax K-50, former being a Small Sensor Compact while the latter is a Entry-Level DSLR by competitors Panasonic and Pentax. The sensor resolution of the FH6 (14MP) and the K-50 (16MP) is relatively well matched but the FH6 (1/2.3") and K-50 (APS-C) have different sensor sizes.

The FH6 was announced 22 months before the K-50 which makes them a generation apart from one another. Each of the cameras feature different body design with the Panasonic FH6 being a Compact camera and the Pentax K-50 being a Compact SLR camera.

The Panasonic FH6 comes with outside measurements of 96mm x 56mm x 20mm (3.8" x 2.2" x 0.8") accompanied by a weight of 119 grams (0.26 lbs) and the Pentax K-50 has proportions of 130mm x 97mm x 71mm (5.1" x 3.8" x 2.8") accompanied by a weight of 650 grams (1.43 lbs).

To sum up, both of these cameras come with different resolutions and different sensor measurements. The FH6 using its tinier sensor is going to make achieving bokeh trickier and the Pentax K-50 will give you more detail with its extra 2MP. Higher resolution will allow you to crop pictures a good deal more aggressively. The older FH6 is going to be disadvantaged in sensor innovation.
