Leica X1 vs Nikon S30 Overview
Its time to look a little more in depth at the Leica X1 and Nikon S30, one being a Large Sensor Compact and the other is a Small Sensor Compact by manufacturers Leica and Nikon. The resolution of the X1 (12MP) and the S30 (10MP) is very comparable but the X1 (APS-C) and S30 (1/3") enjoy totally different sensor dimensions.

Usually, it can be difficult to envision the difference in sensor sizing merely by going through specifications. The graphic underneath will provide you a much better sense of the sensor dimensions in the X1 and S30.
To sum up, the two cameras enjoy different megapixels and different sensor sizing. The X1 due to its larger sensor will make getting shallower depth of field easier and the Leica X1 will provide more detail utilizing its extra 2MP. Greater resolution will also allow you to crop photos far more aggressively. The older X1 will be behind with regard to sensor tech.
