Panasonic FP7 vs Panasonic GX7 Overview
In this article, we are evaluating the Panasonic FP7 and Panasonic GX7, former is a Ultracompact while the other is a Advanced Mirrorless and they are both built by Panasonic. The resolution of the FP7 (16MP) and the GX7 (16MP) is fairly comparable but the FP7 (1/2.3") and GX7 (Four Thirds) use totally different sensor dimensions.

The FP7 was revealed 3 years earlier than the GX7 which is a fairly sizable difference as far as camera tech is concerned. Both cameras offer different body type with the Panasonic FP7 being a Ultracompact camera and the Panasonic GX7 being a Rangefinder-style mirrorless camera.

Generally, it is hard to see the gap in sensor sizes only by going through specs. The picture underneath should offer you a much better sense of the sensor measurements in the FP7 and GX7.
As you can plainly see, the 2 cameras enjoy the same exact MP but not the same sensor sizes. The FP7 uses the smaller sensor which is going to make achieving shallow depth of field harder. The more aged FP7 will be disadvantaged when it comes to sensor technology.
