Camera housings are often released for newer cameras, usually waterproof ones. However, OM Digital has surprised us with a new housing for the Olympus Tough TG-6. But it’s not waterproof; it’s actually a medical housing.
OM Digital is now taking orders for the MH Series imaging solution, which is compatible with high-pressure steam sterilization. The TG-6 medical housing, known as the MH-STP01, is the first in the series.
High-pressure steam sterilization is commonly used to sterilize medical equipment, but not everything can withstand its stresses and temperatures.
This housing is specifically designed for veterinarians to safely use the camera during surgeries. While it is not classified as a medical device, it enables doctors to document the process without risking the patient’s well-being or damaging the camera. OM Digital highlights its chemical-resistant properties, making it suitable for laboratory environments.
The “MH Series” aims to enhance veterinary medicine by promoting collaboration between veterinarians and veterinary nurses.
It allows for safe and easy photography during surgeries, facilitating information sharing, training, technical advancement, and improved services for breeders.
This unique product opens up a new world of possibilities. We hadn’t even considered camera housings for the medical industry until now. It makes us wonder what other innovative camera solutions have been developed over the years.
The OM Digital MH-STP01 medical housing for the Olympus Tough TG-6 can be purchased for ¥190,000 (approximately $1,340) through the OM Digital Solutions Business Store.
Unfortunately, it is currently only available in Japan, with no information on a global release.
