Panasonic F5 Lens details

The F5 features a built-in lens having a focal range of 28-140mm making it a 5.0 x zoom which may not be very good but it is going to be very helpful in a few cases.

At it's widest 28mm, it has an aperture of f3.2 which is kind of sluggish and not the best for low light occasions and you will probably find it difficult to get good bokeh. You will also have to raise your ISO setting giving you noisy files. For the long end, 140mm comes to f6.5 which is quite slow and you might have to choose slow shutter speeds.

Panasonic F5 Connectivity

The F5 has the following connectivity:

  • USB Yes

Cameras that incorporate NFC and Bluetooth compatibility can be used wirelessly through smartphones. You can easily copy pictures and at times change camera settings without connecting straight with the camera.

Many apps also allow a Liveview and click the shutter when you aren't near the camera. If the camera comes with a HDMI port, it can be hooked up to an external screen. Many cameras will allow you to recharge the battery using the USB socket.

Panasonic F5 Video details

The maximum video resolution on the Panasonic F5 is 1280 x 720 and you can record in Motion JPEG format. 720p is low for today's standards. You should really try to get at least FUll HD resolution for good video. The body doesn't feature a microphone and headphone socket which means that you get absolutely no control over the sound. It is perhaps best to have a look at an alternative camera in case you want good sound for your video clips.

Panasonic F5 Weather Sealing

There is no weather sealing in the Panasonic F5 so you have to be cautious in rainy and dusty situations.

Panasonic F5 Display and Viewfinder

The Panasonic F5 comes with a 2.7" fixed display having a resolution of 230k dots.

Unfortunately the display is not a touch screen.

  • ViewFinder None

Viewfinders are really handy for bright outdoor situations which will make the camera display washed out and difficult to see.

Panasonic F5 Shutter details

Panasonic F5 is able to shoot continuously at 1.0 frames/s. The maximum shutter speed is 1/2000 seconds.

Coronavirus is affecting the sensor business

Panasonic F5 Flash and Hot shoe details

Panasonic F5 has just in-built flash without external flash ability.

Panasonic F5 Autofocus details

Panasonic F5 has only Contrast Based AF & doesn't have Phase Detect AF. Phase Detection focusing is a lot more faster and precise as compared with Contrast Based focusing.

It also includes Tracking AF for moving objects. Panasonic F5 doesn't have manual focusing. Manual focusing option can be good for low light or you require more precise control on depth of field.
