Sony W370 Lens information

The W370 houses a built-in lens offering a focal range of 34-238mm giving it a 7.0 x zoom which isn't ideal however it may be useful in some conditions.

At it's widest 34mm, it has an aperture of f3.6 which will be fairly sluggish and not good for low light situations and you will probably struggle to get good bokeh. You might also need to boost your ISO producing noisy images. With the long end, 238mm comes to f5.6 which is really slow and you would have to set slower shutter speeds.

Sony W370 Connectivity

  • USB Yes
  • HDMI Yes

Digital cameras that contain NFC and / or Bluetooth compatibility can easily be used wirelessly via smartphones. You can easily send files and in some cases change camera settings without connecting physically with the camera.

A few apps also stream a Liveview and hit the shutter if you are not near the camera. If the camera includes a HDMI port, it could be connected to an external screen. Virtually all cameras enable you to recharge the battery pack using the USB port.

Sony W370 Video information

The max video resolution on the Sony W370 is 1280 x 720 and you can record in Motion JPEG file format. 720p is low for today's requirements. You should really strive for a minimum 1080p resolution for decent video. The body does not have a microphone and / or headphone port so you have absolutely no control over the audio. It is perhaps a better idea to buy an alternative model in case you want decent audio for your videos.
