Kenko Tokina has introduced the KC-WP06 camera, a throwback to the affordable point-and-shoot era.
With a price tag of $125, this underwater camera offers a 25.5mm lens and an 8-megapixel sensor, along with a modern front-facing LCD for selfies.
Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the KC-WP06 combines classic features with a few software enhancements.
While the hardware may seem dated compared to modern smartphones, it still delivers decent HD video quality and offers weather resistance up to three meters underwater for 30 minutes.
With its close-focusing capability of 10 centimeters, the camera captures shots of subjects up close. The rear LCD display measures 2.8 inches while the front-facing display is a smaller 1.5-inch monitor.
You can save your images and videos to a microSD card with a capacity of up to 128GB.
The camera boasts autofocus that can track moving subjects, timelapse functionality, slow motion video capability, and the ability to shoot underwater.
It also doubles as a webcam, connecting to your computer via a USB2.0 cable.
While the KC-WP06 is affordable at $125, it’s important to note that its features and performance are reminiscent of early 2000s cameras.
Despite this, it still offers value with its front-facing LCD, timelapse and stabilization features, and CMOS sensor. Just keep in mind that the product photos on Kenko Tokina’s website may not accurately represent the actual results you’ll achieve.
The Kenko Tokina KC-WP06 point-and-shoot camera is currently only available in Japan.
