Attention photographers: The first major fashion magazine has done the unthinkable – created a cover image using artificial intelligence (AI) in just 20 minutes!
No cameras, stylists, or designers! Former Miss Virgin Islands, Lisa Opie, graces the August cover of Glamour Bulgaria with a futuristic Barbie aesthetic that perfectly suits her style.
Her team drew inspiration from the upcoming Barbie movie, using an image from a talented AI artist named Fran H, also known as @ai_fashion_photos on Instagram.
Opie provided Fran with multiple facial photographs, resulting in stunning AI-generated images for the cover shoot.
Opie and her team were amazed by the simplicity and fun of working with AI.
The process generated images that surpassed their expectations. While most of the magazine showcases AI-generated images, Opie also insisted on including an authentic photograph of herself.
She believes in embracing the potential sustainability of AI-driven photoshoots, appreciating the time-saving aspect and the ability to eliminate the need for multiple outfit changes.
Despite Opie’s excitement, not everyone is thrilled about AI dominating magazine covers. Fashion columnist Merle Ginsberg expressed her disdain for this innovative approach.
Opie acknowledges concerns about AI negatively impacting job prospects for photographers and set designers, emphasizing the need to protect those affected by AI’s rise.
Opie also raised concerns about deepfakes and nudity. She recognizes that AI has the potential to replace entire photoshoots, leaving little room for photographers and other professionals.
However, she may need to be cautious, as AI is not only challenging those with creative talent but also threatening Hollywood actors, who are currently on strike due to proposals involving their digital likenesses.
