Exciting news for all you photography enthusiasts out there! Panasonic has just announced that they will be releasing a firmware update for their GH6 Micro Four Thirds camera.
This update will bring some fantastic new features to the table, including the ability to output 4K videos at 120p and the option to shoot in 12-bit Blackmagic RAW format.
The eagerly anticipated firmware, known as version 2.3, is set to be available for download next week. The highlight of this update is definitely the two main features mentioned above.
Firstly, with the new firmware, you’ll be able to record stunning 12-bit Blackmagic RAW video in a variety of resolutions, such as 5.7K, Cinema 4K, and Anamorphic 4:3. To do this, you’ll need to connect the camera to a Blackmagic Design monitor/recorder, more specifically the Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR, using an HDMI cable.
Of course, in order to fully take advantage of this new capability, you’ll need to make sure that your Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR is updated with the corresponding firmware available for download from Blackmagic’s website.
Additionally, to play back and edit the BRAW footage, you’ll need either DaVinci Resolve or DaVinci Resolve Studio software.
Let’s not forget the second major feature being introduced to the GH6 with this firmware update. You will now have the option to output your videos in 4K at either 120p or 100p via HDMI to an external device.
This opens up a world of possibilities for capturing fast-motion scenes or creating stunning slow-motion effects.
