Country Star Miranda Lambert Causes Controversy by Dismantling Selfie Obsession

Miranda Lambert caused a stir online recently when she paused a concert to reprimand fans taking selfies instead of listening to her song.

The incident took place during one of her Las Vegas residency shows at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

In a TikTok video that went viral, Lambert can be seen interrupting her performance of “Tin Man” to call out some concert-goers and express her frustration with their focus on taking photos.

She asks them to put their phones away before continuing the song. The video has garnered over 3.1 million views in just three days.

Although the Las Vegas audience supported Lambert by cheering her on, one of the women called out by the singer expressed her disapproval of Lambert’s behavior.

Influencer Adela Calin, who was seated close to the stage with her friends, explained that they had attempted to take a few group photos prior to the start of the show.

However, the lighting wasn’t favorable for photography. As the concert was coming to an end, Calin asked the woman behind them to take a quick photo of her and her friends.

According to Calin, it lasted no longer than 30 seconds. She felt that Lambert treated them as if they were misbehaving, criticizing them for being young, immature, and vain, even though they were just adult women trying to capture a memory.

Calin acknowledged that Lambert’s reaction might have been influenced by the ongoing issue of smartphones at concerts, with artists like Harry Styles and Drake being hit by thrown objects on stage.

However, not all TikTok users who watched the video agreed with Lambert’s response. Some believed the singer’s reaction was too harsh, suggesting that the fans were simply excited and wanted to create memories.

Others argued that taking selfies was possible while still enjoying the music.

One viewer empathized with Lambert’s frustration but suggested that she could have addressed the situation differently by finishing the song and then making a general statement about being present in the moment and limiting phone usage.

As of now, Lambert’s spokesperson has stated that the singer has no comment regarding the incident.
