A fresh addition to the photography gear market, Zhong Yi Optics has quietly launched a new 200mm f/4 APO 1x macro lens.
However, they’ve made no fanfare of it on their Facebook page or official website. It isn’t being sold by familiar vendors, with sightings recorded only on eBay for now.
This addition marks ZY Optics’ third full-frame macro lens, coming after the unveiling of the 20mm f/2 4.5x in 2016 and the 85mm f/2.8 1-5x in 2019.
The lens caters to a host of different formats. Alongside supporting multiple medium format, full-frame and APS-C mirrorless devices and DSLRs, it flaunts adaptability across numerous mounts—namely, Nikon Z, Nikon F, Leica L, Fuji X, Sony E, Canon EF, Canon RF, Fuji GFX, and Hasselblad XCD.
Surprisingly, there’s no sign of association with Micro Four Thirds.
One main feature of this lens is its manual focus and its capability of providing a 1:1 macro magnification ratio. This essentially means it delivers images in the exact same size as in real life.
Ensuring this magnification, a minimised focus distance of 48cm is sustained because of its long focal range.
With a structure comprising eleven pieces in seven groups, this lens integrates a complex format.
The aperture fashions nine blades, alongside a 48cm-to-infinity focal reach and around 12.5° field of view.
As a result, detailed close-ups, headshots, or portraits are equally within its scope as macro photography, orchestrated by its internal focusing system dodging any potential front piece rotation or displacement when re-adjusted.
The ZY Optics 200mm f/4 APO 1x Macro seems accessible only via eBay for $499 at present, with orders shipped directly from China. Word is yet to be out on its arrival onto the larger platforms like Amazon or other global retailers.
