LateNiteSoft, the creators behind Camera+ app, have introduced Photon, a new iOS camera app specifically designed for professional-style image capture. With a focus on simplicity and extensive features, Photon aims to compete with high-end camera apps like Halide.

Camera+ was first released in 2010 and has since gained popularity as one of the top camera apps for iPhone.

LateNiteSoft revamped the app in 2018 with Camera+ 2, and also introduced a desktop studio platform for Mac users in 2021. The company continuously adds new features, such as an artificial intelligence-driven image upscaler, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing the application.

Photon is positioned as the “heir” to Camera+, targeting a more sophisticated user base. LateNiteSoft plans to leverage the app’s intuitive interface and robust features to achieve success in this competitive market.

The developers recognize the recent advancements in mobile photography and aim to support both novice and professional photographers in expressing their visual creativity.

The app can be downloaded for free, offering auto mode shooting capabilities. However, full manual control – including focus, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance adjustments – will require a paid subscription.

Photon also allows users to customize image format and resolution, with options for shooting in RAW or Apple ProRAW, as well as HEIF or JPEG.

Additional features highlighted by the company include focus peaking, a histogram, grid overlay, and flash control.

Photon is not merely a point-and-shoot app; its intuitive user interface provides a comprehensive suite of creative tools, allowing photographers to capture unique and captivating images that tell their own stories.

To support users, LateNiteSoft has published a detailed manual for the app. It not only covers the basic controls and their usage but also includes a “Photography 101” section with five chapters aimed at explaining the fundamentals of photography.

While the app is free to download, access to Photon’s advanced controls comes at a cost. The subscription is available at $3.99 per month or $19.99 per year.

For a limited time, LateNiteSoft is offering a lifetime subscription for $39.99. Photon is now available on the Apple App Store.
