Xiaomi’s iPad Competitor Boosts Productivity with Sleek Design
X

The tablet domain is undeniably dominated by Apple’s iPad, leaving room for only a few real competitors like Samsung and Lenovo. Xiaomi is stepping up, carving a unique spot for its Pad 6 by pitching it as a device intended for “efficient task accomplishment.”

Unveiled recently, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is geared expressly towards work-related tasks, although it’s equally capable in the entertainment sector.

Xiaomi’s main objective is to morph the Pad 6 into a genuine portable workstation that excels at performance and multitasking.

The Pad 6 comes with MIUI for Pad software installed over Android. This software, Xiaomi’s own mobile interface, pairs with the proprietary second-generation smart pen and a keyboard.

Together, these features metamorphose the device into something resembling a laptop or drawing tablet. While these aren’t groundbreaking additions, Xiaomi asserts there are certain elements that make them more efficient in conjunction with the tablet.

The smart pen carries a button allowing for easy screenshots or the option to toggle between writing, painting, and color functions in the Notes app.

When the keyboard is plugged in, the interface becomes customizable, facilitating the creation of personal shortcuts and enhancing the laptop-like feel.

The Xiaomi Pad 6 boasts an 11-inch WQHD+ (2,880 x 1,800) display, offering a pixel density of 309 PPI that makes for easier text readability. As a device aiming to cater to the work domain, it is primed for virtual meetings.

The tablet includes a central ultra-wide front camera equipped with Xiaomi’s “FocusFrame” feature, which keeps the user centered in the frame, much like Apple’s Center Stage.

The front camera quality reaches 1080p, whereas the rear camera supports up to 4K video recording, with an impressive 13-megapixel photo capability. Both cameras utilize an f/2.2 lens.

Additionally, the tablet houses four microphones designed to accurately capture the user’s voice while reducing background interference.

The Pad 6 operates on USB 3.2 Gen 1, enabling swift data transfer with connected devices and supporting up to 4K 60p video signal output. It promises excellent power conservation owing to its 8,840mAh battery combined with 33W fast charging.

Apart from being a workhorse, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is equally geared for entertainment. It supports Dolby Vision, covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum and has a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

But it doesn’t get overly bright, maxing out at 550 nits. It also incorporates TÜV Rheinland’s certified Low Blue Light, which reduces eye strain for prolonged viewing.

Weighing only 490 grams, the Pad 6 features a slim 6.51mm bezel, aluminum construction, and a Snapdragon 870 mobile platform for smooth operation.

The Pad 6 is available in three hues (Gravity Gray, Gold, Mist Blue) with prices commencing at 399 Euros. Currently, it doesn’t seem to be available in North America.
