Big news for TikTok users! The popular video-sharing app has just announced that it will be introducing a new feature that allows users to share text posts. This comes shortly after Meta launched its own text-focused platform, Threads, just 19 days ago.
According to the news release published by TikTok, the addition of text posts will give creators more options to share their ideas and express their creativity.
With this new format, users can easily share their stories, poems, lyrics, and any other written content they want to showcase on the app.
To access this feature, users can simply open the “Camera” feature on TikTok and choose from three different options: photo, video, or text. By selecting the text option, users will be directed to a text creation page where they can type out the content they want to share.
To make their text posts even more engaging, TikTok users will have various customization options available. They can spice up their written content by adding sounds, tagging a location, enabling comments, and allowing Duets.
In the news release, TikTok emphasizes that the new text posts will be just as interactive and dynamic as any video or photo post on the app.
Additionally, content creators can jazz up their text posts with stickers, tags, hashtags, and even choose from a wide range of background colors.
Similar to drafts for videos or photos, users will have the ability to save their text posts and store them alongside their unpublished content. They can then edit or discard these posts at their convenience.
It seems like TikTok is stepping up its game in the social media realm. After introducing a photo-sharing mode to compete with Instagram last year, the app has now taken a direct shot at Meta’s Twitter-killer app, Threads.
Threads experienced rapid growth, amassing 100 million users within a week of its launch. However, engagement has declined over time, with Meta allegedly losing half of its active users.
With this recent development, social media enthusiasts may be on the lookout for an alternative platform to share their written content. TikTok’s new text-based feature could very well be the answer they’ve been seeking.
